3rd February 1962
Saturday
It has been a week of more variety than usual. There was an Underground strike on Monday so I got to work by bus to Barking station and caught the steamer. I’ve never been in work so early. Never again!
There has been a smallpox case in Rainham. Too close for comfort so I enquired about vaccination. I was a martyr and had the injection and had my hair cut on the same day. (Not at the same place!)
We went to see Marjorie and Bill and I took the cardigans I had knitted for her parents. I was paid by cheque so more to go into the savings.
Friday we took Jennifer to see The Young Ones. I paid. It cost me a pound!
This evening Alan left it up to me where to go. So we stayed in.
