Sir Thomas Beecham

British Conductor and Impresario.

Died 8th March 1961

Sir Thomas inherited a fortune from his family’s pill business and spent it on music.

He founded four orchestras including The Royal Philharmonic and brought the Diaghilev Ballet to London. In 1910 he began presenting operas at London’s Covent Garden.
