Saturday
Went to the Ilford Palais this evening. That place is becoming a home-from-home for us. It will always be something special as it was where we met.

Alan had a headache so we didn’t stay very long. I was in a good mood and was fooling around. He put that down to the ONE drink I had and said, ‘no more drinks for you’. Pompous so-and-so!
Dad’s 47th birthday yesterday so we made a fuss of him when he got home from work.
Mum and I went to the Ideal Home Exhibition last Monday. It’s not often Mum and I go out, just the two of us. I had booked the day off work for it. It was a long train journey across London to Olympia and the exhibits were over such a vast area we were tired and had aching feet after a few hours. But still Mum didn’t want to go home. She enjoyed it.

I suppose I did too. There was so much to see. There were display ‘houses’ set up to show off new design furniture.

And the strangest gadgets were demonstrated. I liked the seats that moved and vibrated so you didn’t have to get out of your chair to get a massage. My type of exercise!
